As far back as I remember, I loved capturing life's special moments.  My father entrusted me with his magic Yashica camera which turned the world upside down and captured it in sharp focus. In 1969,  I took that camera across this beautiful country of ours on a camping trip. That was the beginning of my love of traveling and sharing my images of this magnificent world around us.

I've been a reporter, a graphic artist, a medical editor and a communications specialist. I became passionate about our fragile environment while working for Scenic Hudson, a nonprofit that works hard to steward the lands around the Hudson River. I grew as an editor and photographer while working for the Poughkeepsie Journal.  During my career I interviewed Dr. Susan Love (Breast cancer surgeon and author of The Breast Book), George W. Bush (when he was Governor of Texas), Dr. Willelm Kolff, MD, PhD (inventor of the artificial heart and several other organs), Walter Cronkite and many other impressive folks.

Today I work as an events, portraits and landscape photographer. I still love the breathtaking sights of nature and work hard at capturing what I see and sharing the emotions I feel with my camera. You can see more of my work at www.chriscina.net.

Day Trip with my Daughter

Between Covid 19 and moving from Texas to Maryland, I really haven't seen much of the world this year and that is hard on this travel-loving girl.  Here I am living an hour away from Baltimore and Washington, DC and we are stuck in an unending state of quarantine.  I needed to break out so I asked my daughter if she'd take an early morning trip to Annapolis with me. "How early?" she wanted to know. She is not normally a photographer and, with two young children, unaccustomed to our "pre-dawn" starts.  "As early as you can," I tried and she and the kids showed up slightly after 7 am.  Popsie stayed with the kids who grumbled that they just wanted to go back to sleep, but Nova was game for a new adventure and we happily drove 35 minute southeast to the beautiful city of Annapolis.  Court house showed some signs of life. Day 4 - On the Train heading for Zermatt

We knew this was going to be several hours on a train, but it was the Glacier Express and we had first class tickets.  We were seated opposite another couple and it gave us the opportunity to get to know John and Laura a bit better.  He was the photographer but she was a wealth of all kinds of knowledge.  Poppy fields zoomed by, gorgeous to see, but difficult to capture. Beautiful scenery as we raced by the Swiss countryside Service on the train was great.  We were served a delicious lunch of chicken curry which was very yummy and came on nice china with bread and rice and dessert.  At long last we arrived in the adorable town of Zermatt. We immediately bought ourselves tickets to go up to the Matterhorn the following two days and then took a cute little electric van up to our hotel where Andrew and I had the following view. Part 2 of Our Swiss Adventure - Traveling to St. Moritz

Our tour began on a Monday at the Zurich train station where we boarded a first class train to St. Moritz.  The scenery that we passed was spectacular, however very challenging to photograph since we dealt with windows and speed.  The group of us, 15 photographers including spouses, ran from window to window, enjoying the charming European landscape.  Someone located a half raised window and someone else found a car that seemed to be meant for photographers since you could manage the windows more easily, but we still had the speed of the train to contend with, not to mention constant posts we passed and, although things looked beautiful to our eyes, there remained a lot of power lines that were disappointing to see on our images.  And one of our group lost her cell phone as the train sped by.
